🥧 Suz's Homemade Biscuit Recipe 🥧

Only 6 ingredients (no yeast required), perfect for beginners!

Biscuits

Biscuits are the ultimate comfort food.
The humble biscuit is not only delectable snack on its own, it is also the perfect vehicle for a simple gravy, cheese, or the contents of your favorite sandwich. Imagine your favorite ingredients, savory or sweet, brought together by two warm, flaky yet soft biscuit halves. This recipe has been tested and tried to fit my taste, dairy / vegan substitutions are welcome, and are always a crowd favorite. Try it out. You might just surprise yourself, especially if this is your first time baking biscuits.

    Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Add all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) and whisk gently.
  3. Cut 1 stick frozen butter into small crumbles/cubes and add to dry ingredients
  4. Use your fingers to break down butter until flour mixture looks like rough breadcrumbs
  5. Add 3/4 cup of your desired milk and fold in flour until a rough dough starts to form
  6. Use the remaining milk to scrape remaining flour off sides of bowl until all ingredients are combined
  7. On a floured surface, place slightly wet and cold dough and fold onto itself until it is a ball
  8. Flatten ball using palms or rolling pin until you reach 1/2 inch thick sheet
  9. Fold sheet into three folds and flatten (this is called laminating)
  10. Repeat lamination 2 more times or before the butter starts to melt
  11. In your final 1/2 inch sheet, use a cookie cutter or even a drinking glass to cut out a biscuit shape
  12. Use softened butter to grease a baking sheet or dark pan
  13. Place each biscuit on pan or baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown
  14. Enjoy!
