Skintype

Have you ever felt like your skin has a mind of its own? One minute it’s all shiny from excess oil, and the next it’s freaking out from a new product you’ve tried. Welcome to the world of oily sensitive skin, a skin type that can feel like a tightrope walk between maintaining hydration and keeping breakouts at bay. But fear not, because with the right knowledge and the best skincare for oily sensitive skin, you can tame the oily beast and keep skin sensitivities in check. Ready to dive in? Let’s get started!

Identifying Oily Skin

So, how do you know if you’re an unwilling host to this overzealous party? Well, if your skin often looks shiny and slick, especially in the T-zone, it’s a sign you’ve got oily skin. But if you also notice redness, irritation, and reactions to some skincare products, then you’ve got both oily and sensitive skin. Despite seeming like a tricky combination to manage, recognizing this is the key to gaining control. It’s like knowing your party guest list. Once you know who’s coming, you can better plan and manage the event.

Here is what I would use:

  1. Cleansers

The first step in your skincare routine should be gentle cleansing. This helps to remove excess oil, dirt, and impurities from your skin without stripping it of its natural moisture. It’s like cleaning up before the party guests arrive. You want to create a clean environment, but you don’t want to remove all the decorations. Using a cleanser with ingredients like salicylic acid, witch hazel, and tea tree oil can help to balance oil production and reduce acne without causing irritation.

    My reccomendation: Cerave SA Cleanser
  2. Exfoliate

Ensure to do it gently by using products with ingredients like salicylic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids, or enzymes. These can help to exfoliate your skin without causing irritation. Only do this 1-2 times a week!

My recommendation: Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
  3. Toner

This helps to balance your skin’s natural oils and reduce excess oil production. It’s like playing the perfect music at the party to create a balanced and enjoyable atmosphere. However, you should avoid astringent toners, as they can strip your skin’s natural oils and cause irritation or breakouts. Instead, opt for treatment toners or alcohol-free options that can soothe your skin without causing harm

My recommendation: Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Pore-Reducing Toner
  4. Hydration or Moisturising

Lightweight moisturizers are like the comfortable seating at your party. They provide necessary comfort without making things overly crowded. When choosing a moisturizer, look for lightweight, oil-free products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or niacinamide. These can provide the necessary hydration without overloading your skin with oil.

My recomendation: Use any moisturiser with said ingredients from your local pharmacy
  5. Sunscreen

Sunscreen, on the other hand, is like the roof over your party. It provides necessary protection from external elements. Look for lightweight, matte-finished sunscreens that protect your skin from UV rays without causing excess oiliness. Remember, even if the sun is not shining bright, your skin still needs protection from UV rays.

My recomendation: Use any sunscreen from your local pharmacy
