Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves that originated in China. Later, the characteristic green color of modern matcha was developed in Japan, where most matcha is produced today. Matcha naturally contains beneficial antioxidants. One antioxidant found in matcha, EGCG, has been shown to help support a healthy metabolism. The unique combination of Caffeine and L-theanine in matcha can provide a calm yet alert feeling. It is a great alternative to coffee, many report feeling a better sense of focus, without the jittery buzz compare to coffee. Matcha also contains fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins. Matcha can be made with water or your choice of dairy or non dairy alternative such as soy, oat or almond milk. It can also be added in your smoothies or baked goods.
