Pysanky are Ukrainian decorated easter eggs. For pysanka usually white
eggs are used, hollowed out and cleaned. Intricate patterns are drawn
with beeswax on the eggs and then dipped into dye, going from lighter to
darker colours. The beginning of pysanky have been documented to be well
before the 10th century. First used as offerings and prayers, the eggs
are now mostly used as decorations and art form to keep the Ukrainian
spirit and traditions alive.
