BTS, short for Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy Scouts) or Beyond the Scene, is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed in 2013 by Big Hit Entertainment. Originally a hip hop group, they've evolved to encompass a wide range of genres. They co-write and co-produce much of their music, with lyrics focused on themes of mental health, youth struggles, self-love, and social commentary. BTS is the best-selling musical act in South Korean history and the first non-English speaking act to top the Billboard 200 chart.
