The origin of yogurt is in Turkey , although some people also place it in the Balkan Peninsula , Bulgaria or Central Asia . It is believed that its consumption predates the beginning of agriculture . Nomadic peoples transported the fresh milk they obtained from animals in bags, usually made of goat skin .
