Dogs are amazing companions, pure at heart and loyal to anyone who takes care of them
I love dogs,everyone should.
Did you know?
Dogs are very social animals.
The dog is a domesticated descendant of the wolf. They're
extremely social animals and they can get depressed
without friends. Most dogs don't enjoy being left alone and
may suffer if left without company,or nothing to do for looking periods of time.
Storms can physically hurt dogs!
When the wind stats to howl and thunder starts to rumble, dogs
may become very anxious, looking for a place to hide.
Dogs sweat glands are in their paws!
One of the reasons it is so important to keep your dog cool on
warm summer days is because of the way they sweat. When humans
internal temperature starts rising, our hypothalamus tells eccrine
swaet glands all over our body to cool down by producing sweat,
which then evaporates off our skin, reducing our temperature.
Dogs have fewer sweat glands than people do and they are inefficient.
Dogs merocrine sweat glands are located on their paw pads and produce
a pheromone laden oily substance. It is rare, however, that a dog
will sweat through its paws. Their primary form of body temperature
regulation is panting.
Dogs have three eyelids!
This may be news to you but your dog has three eyelids. The third
lid is called the 'haw' or nictating membrane and is found in birds
and some other mammals. You may see this eyelids when they're falling
asleep or enjoying some petting, much like humans roll back their eyes
when they fall asleep or from pleasure. Read more about Dogs
