Giant Panda and Red Panda

The endangered name twins

Despite what the names may suggest the red panda is not related to the giant panda. The giant panda belongs to the Ursidae family (Bears) and the red panda belongs to its own taxonomically unique Family: Ailuridae. The giant panda and the red panda do however share some of the same characteristics and a common ancestor as well as their love for bamboo.
Another similarity they both share: their kind is endangered.
