Paper mache, also known as papier-mâché (lit. French for 'chewed paper'), is a composite material made from paper pieces or pulp, sometimes reinforced with textiles, and bound together with an adhesive, such as glue, starch, or plaster. Paper mache sculptures are used as an affordable building material for a variety of traditional and ceremonial activities, as well as in arts and crafts.
