The word anime is a shortened form of the Japanese word animēshon, which means "animation." While anime has its roots in Japan, it has since spread to other countries, and today, anime can be found in many different languages, including English. Besides being a source of entertainment and cultural understanding, they can teach you important life lessons, provide a source of encouragement, comfort, inspiration, hope, an escape from reality, decision making, overcoming loss and a way to understand the world better for many people, myself included, amongst other themes.
