Farza, my hometown, is a charming district located in Kabul Province,
Afghanistan. This relatively new district was established in January
1991, separating from Mir Bacha Kot District, although it was not
recognized by the Taliban government at the time. After the fall of the
Taliban and the establishment of the interim government in 2001, Farza
was finally recognized as an independent district. Nestled about 45
kilometers north of Kabul city, Farza is known for its lush greenery and
is situated in the hills of the northwestern part of the Shomali Plain.
The district consists of 18 villages, with Dehnawe Farza serving as its
administrative center. The population is approximately 18,000 people,
primarily Pashtuns and Tajiks. Historically, Farza enjoyed a kingdom
lifestyle around 200 years ago, with the central village of Qala Mera
built by Sayed Baabshah. Agriculture remains the primary source of
income in Farza, reflecting the district's rich, fertile landscape.
