Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a massive metropolis that combines modern skyscrapers, a state-of-the-art subway and pop culture with Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. Major sights include the futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a curved convention hall with a rooftop park, the Geongbokgung Palace, which once had over 7,000 rooms, and the Jogyesa Temple with ancient Japanese string trees and pine trees.
