Chihuahua

World's smallest dog breed

Modern chihuahua was discovered in the 19th century in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. They were first registered as a breed in 1908.
They come in more colours than any other breed. Their coat can be short or long. Chihuahuas are tiny, weighing only 1 to 3 kg.

Even though they are so small, they are fierce. Chihuahuas are very loving but can also be extremely possessive of their owners. They often choose one person in the family to be “their human”.

For many, the stereotype of a chihuahua is a dog in the handbag. While some of it is true - they love to sleep and be lazy - they are also very active dogs. They love to play and go for long walks. Chihuahuas can be very curious. Especially when you are eating something!
