What is Astrology?

Astrology is a language, art and science that studies the relationship between cycles of clestial bodies and the affairs of people on earth. Derived from Greek roots astron (star) and logos (word of speech), astrology literally means "star talk." The purpose of learning astrology is to better know and understand ourselves and our place in the cosmos.

When most people describe astrology, they think of the twelve signs of the Zodiac, popularly known as the "Sun signs." On an energy level, signs represent the twelve primary energy fields, the formative principles of the universe, or archetypal patterns. On a psychological level, signes correspond to twelve basic personlality types; and even more specifically, to the twelve basic psychological needs that each and every human being experiences. Although everyone has all twelve of these sign somewhere in their birth chart, each person was born under a specific "Sun sign."

An astrology birth chart—also called an astrology natal chart—is a map of where all the planets were in their journey around the Sun (from our vantage point on earth) at the exact moment you were born.
