Back to the beginning... There is archaeological evidence dogs were the first animals domesticated by humans more than 30,000 years ago (more than 10,000 years before the domestication of horses and ruminants). People love their dogs for the companionship and protection they give them. There is nothing better than the loyalty they give and the welcome you get from them when you come home from a long day.
There are different sizes of dogs, from the tiny Chihuahua (between 5-8 inches tall) to the tallest dog breed; the Irish Wolfhound, standing at least 30-32 inches!
There are hundreds of different breeds of dogs. These include pure breeds and the ever-popular designer mixed breeds such as the Cockapoo, which is a mix of two pure breeds: the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle.
