A
learning to become a web developer.
I have been working as a medical assistant for six
years. This had a great impact on my personal growth, but I always
felt like something was missing. I realized I really want to be part
of a team of creatives working on projects.
In April 2024 the first step of my journey was to enroll in Google's
UX Design professional certificate program to learn
the basics of UI/UX Design.
While working on different parts of the program, I kept asking
myself how design choices were communicated to developers and if
what I designed was even feasible and could be implemented at
all.
My next step was to learn the basics of coding with
the "SheCodes Basics" workshop.
I recently enrolled in "Web Design for Everybody: Basics of Web
Development & Coding" by the University of Michigan on coursera to
deepen my knowledge.
Since learning new things is something I am passionate about, I
decided to take it a step further and study, so in September 2024 I
am starting a full-time undergraduate degree program in
Computer Science and Media Applications.
I am a 27-year-old medical assistant having experience in working
with and for hundreds of different people and personalities. I enjoy
talking to other's and have always been very talkative.
My biggest passion is to learn new things and I regularly take
up new hobbies, but one constant has always been my love for plants,
art, gaming and reading. The self-portrait doodle in the beginning
was done by me!
Looking at other people's art inspires me a lot in creating my own,
as well as reading and discovering new genres and authors or trying
out new games. When I'm not doing any of those things, I am busy
caring for my regularly growing collection of plants.
The Google Course taught me how to complete the design process from
start to finish by empathizing with users and conducting research. I
learned how to define and ideate as well as wireframing and
prototyping in Figma.
The workshop "Introduction to coding" by SheCodes taught me the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and I'm currently enrolled in "Web Design for Everybody: Basics of Web Development & Coding" by the University of Michigan on Coursera to learn even more.
