Meet the Spar Proteas
The SPAR Proteas is the nickname for the South Africa national netball team, sponsored by the retail chain SPAR. The team comprises players who compete both domestically and internationally, often in some of the world's most competitive leagues. Netball South Africa announced the first SPAR Proteas squad in 2024, led by the newly appointed head coach, Jenny van Dyk. The team is represented as the SPAR Proteas, due to sponsorship reasons.
The Spar Proteas unveiled a new kit ahead of the Netball World Cup 2023. Designed by PUMA, the kit draws inspiration from South African culture, featuring elements like the country's coat of arms. This launch aims to imbue the team with a sense of national pride and identity, reflecting the vibrant spirit of South Africa.
