JIRI

A little, beautiful town called Jiri is wonderfully placed in Nepal's east. It used to be the starting point of the well-known Everest Base Camp trek before the Lukla airstrip was made. It is located 1,905 meters above sea level. Due to its attractive environment of undulating hills, deep valleys, and snow-capped mountains, Jiri is frequently referred to as the Switzerland of Nepal. For many years, hikers traveling to the Everest region have used Jiri as their starting point. Beautiful woodlands surround the town, and a variety of birds and other wildlife may be found there.
