The ruins, as the name implies, are what is left of the Enacar mines in Lota. They closed in 1996, and even when time has little by little erased and degraded its initial forms, the infrastructure is still available today. And although everything seems like a dead space, frozen by time, and suffering from the ever-eternal irruption of spontaneous vegetation that has given it an aspect of abandonment very similar to a desolate post-war landscape, it continues to be a place of wonder and beauty for its inhabitants - a magical place by the sea. Whenever I visit Chile and meet my friends, we go to the ruins. They have known us since we were kids and they have seen us grow up. If I could keep a place in the world in a box and open it whenever I miss it, it would be the ruins - especially at sunset like in the photograph ๐ŸŒ…
