Webtoons have become a great escape for me, just as much as books and mangas have been for me growing up, but there is something about webtoons that is so much more to me. Over the past few years after discovering webtoons, I have indulged in more than 100 stories ranging from action, fantasy, romance and many more genres. I have come to love several completed series to the point that if they ever have full English translated prints made (honestly I may even purchase the originals too), I will be one of many in line to purchase the full collection because the plot of the webtoons have really resonated with me. I think others who have never heard of webtoons should definitely check them out, if not for the plot, then the art style will definitely draw you in.
Webtoons are a type of digital comic that originated in South Korea
usually meant to be read on smartphones. While webtoons were mostly
unknown outside of South Korea during their inception, there has been a
surge in popularity internationally thanks in great part to the rise in
popularity of manhwa and that most manhwa are released as webtoons. In
the country, as digital manhwa have emerged as a popular medium, print
publication of manhwa has decreased. The amount of material published in
webtoon form has now reached an equal amount as that published offline.
