When most people think of Jamaica, they think of sunny beaches and reggae music and a particular plant đ. But did you know that Jamaica was the first English-speaking Caribbean country to qualify for the World Cup? Admittedly, this was in 1998 and we haven't been back since but the record still stands! Here's another interesting fact that many people don't know... Jamaica has the most churches per square mile compared to any other country. Another thing many people don't know is that Jamaica once belonged to Spain. The island nation was under Spanish rule until the English arrived, fisticuffs ensued and the Brits planted their flag. There are still many places in Jamaica with Spanish nomenclature. Ocho Rios is the best example. It's a popular spot for tourists and well worth a visit!
