Mauritius, officially, the Republic of Mauritius, is an island country in the Indian Ocean, about 2,000 kilometres off the southeastern coast of East Africa. The island is surrounded of white sandy beaches, and lagoons. Mauritian Island (Mauritian Creole: Lil Moris; French: Île Maurice) has been created by volcanic activity some 8 million years ago.
