Sardinia, the oldest island in the Mediterranean, is a magical land where myths and legends from a largely still unknown past come to life thanks to the ancient and wild beauty of its territory.
Dolianova, a little town located in the south of the island, has a lot of this Sardinian magic in its stories and tales.
In its hilly lands, where vines and olive trees thrive and sheep and goats roam undisturbed, there are many stories that are handed down from generation to generation. One of these spoke of an Ogre, an evil and cruel monster who lived on a nuraghe on the top of one of the highest hills that still today dominate the village.
A day, a group of brave friends, before sunset, decided to leave and climb up there, to see the Ogre's house with their own eyes and find out if the monster, after so many centuries, still lived there.
Luckily, there was no longer any trace of the mythical inhabitant. On that hill overlooking the lands of Dolianova only his house remains, a trilobed nuraghe whose central tower is still in good condition, surrounded by a large courtyard overlooking the cliff. Around it, the remains of what must have been an ancient Nuragic village.
And so, following a frightening legend, the group of friends discovered a wonderful place, laughed in front of a breathtaking view and admired the sunset over the green lands of Dolianova.
