HIV Awareness

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the body's immune system, specifically the CD4 cells, often referred to as T cells. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body can't fight off infections and disease. AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is the final stage of HIV infection, when the body can no longer fight life-threatening infections. It's important to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS to prevent its spread and support those living with the virus.

Prevention

Preventing HIV involves a combination of strategies such as:

• Using condoms correctly during sex
• Getting tested and knowing your partner's status
• Not sharing needles or syringes
• Practicing safe injection drug use
• Using PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for those at high risk
