What is Archery?

Archery is the art, sport, practice, or skill of using a bow to shoot arrows. The word comes from the Latin arcus for bow. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity.

Archery and the Hunger Games

We all remember Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games triology, using her stick bow and arrow to hunt and fend for her life.
The popularity of The Hunger Games series is fueling an interest in the sport of archery, particularly among girls. Some sporting equipment outfitters say they've seen a big boost in bow and arrow sales since the film series began in 2012.
