The Chicago Cubs are one of the oldest baseball teams in the MLB. Originally known as the Chicago White Stockings, the team was established in 1870, joining the MLB (at the time known as the National Association of Professional Baseball Players) in 1876. Throughout their formative years, the team had a few names - the White Stockings, the Colts, the Orphans – finally settling on the Cubs in 1907. In 1916, the Cubs made their home at Weeghman Park on the north side of Chicago, which would later be renamed Wrigley Field in 1926, and is the 2nd oldest baseball stadium in the nation. Even though they have only won three World Series titles (1907, 1908, and 2016) and throughout the years haven’t had the greatest success, the Chicago Cubs continue to be one of the most popular franchises and have one of the most loyal fan bases in Major League Baseball.
