Tennis, a game that combines athleticism and strategy, can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. Played on a rectangular court divided by a net, it involves using a racket to hit a hollow rubber ball over the net and into your opponent's court. The core objective is to outmaneuver your opponent by hitting the ball in a way that's difficult to return, forcing them to either miss the shot or hit it out of bounds.

Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball or commits a fault, like hitting the ball into the net or out of the designated court area. Matches can be played as singles, with one player on each side of the net, or doubles, with two players per team. Each match consists of sets, typically played to the best of three or five. To win a set, a player or team must win a certain number of games, usually by a margin of two. Games themselves are won by scoring a set number of points, most commonly four.
