Welcome to my travel diary! My name is Diana and
during the Fall semester of 2019, I did the ERASMUS+ programme in
Zagreb. Through that time, I got the opportunity of travelling to
over 10 countries. Now, I want to share a little bit
about one of my favourite moments, a
4-day road trip through
Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hope you like it!
First stop: Mostar
Mostar was the first place we visited in the country. We parked our
car and walked around the city. The major attraction is the "Old
Bridge", also known as Stari Most. The city has a
market on each side of the river, which is called
Čaršija, where we got to buy some souvenirs from the
locals. Additionally, we visited the beautiful
Koski Mehmed Paša Mosque. This mosque has one of the
best views over the famous bridge.
Second stop: Sarajevo
Sarajevo is the capital of the country and was the
place in which we spent the most time. As such, we booked an
apartment
for two nights. I recommend this place in case you want to stay
overnight in the city. During the two days we spent there, we walked
through the city and visited famous attractions like the
Avaz Twist Tower (it has an amazing view over
Sarajevo). We also tried the well-known
Bosnian Coffee. The picture on the right is at
Teahouse Džirlo, it was an amazing experience as the
owners are extremely nice and welcoming.
Third and fourth stop: Jajce and Banja Luka
Before arriving at Jajce (on the left) or Banja Luka (on the right),
the views through the road are
definitely worth mentioning, full of natural beauty. As for Jajce,
this town is famous for its waterfall. It was the
only place we visited since we were there for a short period. On the
other hand, Banja Luka is the second-largest city in Bosnia and
Herzegovina. It is one of the best places to try the traditional dish
Ćevapi. Among others, we visited the
Kastel Old Fort and the
Cathedral of Christ the Savior, presented in this
picture.
Thank you very much for your time!
