When I was six years old, we got "Felix" - the cat. He was a hunter, and
grew up big, fast, strong and smart. He could open doors, even the fridge,
to get what he wanted. He fought me for my food, gained access to the roof
and hunted large birds. He often brought home alive bats . But he was
endlessly patient with us children. He never hissed at me, scratched me or
bit me.
To this day, I will credit Felix with teaching us boundaries and how to savely handle animals.
