Poetry is a literary work in which special intensity is given to the
expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and
rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature. This is the way
a non-poet would decribe it. However, a poet would say something more
like:
"Reinventing perceptions of the world and reality one rhyme at a time,
and a hell of a lot of rewriting 😅."
(Inspired by a panic attack) Under a tree during a growing morning
Here is an Example:
The sun and tree drape a thin sheet of darkness
From antumbra to penumbra to umbra
Nestled between the musty bark
And aloe grass.
The leaves are so dense that
The light’s colonies do not show
On the jelly soil
The sun pulls back the sheet,
As umbra shortens,
nestling becomes cowering
Crouching in on oneself
Digging heels into the ground that soothed
Drawing the sheet up,
Bark, branches and leaves
clinging and abrasing it
A dying shadow or the sky’s menacing eye?
As Mary bore Jesus, this fear bore courage
darting out of the shade and declaring to the sky
“I will stare into the Sun,
Even just for a day.”
