History

Started in July 1982 the garden is the second youngest of 9 national botanical gardens. Previously known as Tranvaal botanical gardens, it was open to the public in 1987 and renamed in 2004 in honor Mr Walter Sisulu who together with Nelson Mandela led the struggle for a democratic South Africa.

Activities

You can have a tour of the garden and visit the Witpootjie waterfall, bushveld section containing plants from the savanah biome. Take a hike in a moderately challanging 3.9 km circular route. Have a picnic with a partner or visit the Eagle's fare resturant.
