Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Although itβs a simple concept in theory, itβs something we very often overlook. Good self-care is key to improve mood and reduce anxiety. Itβs also key to a good relationship with oneself and others. It can mean different things for each of us, but I'll give you some ideas just to get started:
Pick up a book from the pile of forgotten purchases and give it a chance. Just read for a while, without expectations, and let the book surprise you. Reading is such an evasive activity which allows you to disconnect from your reality and connect with a different one.
Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing
harmony between mind and body. It is an art and scince of healthy living.
I was personally very reluctant to try yoga because I thought I had to be elastic and flexible to do it.
However, once I started to practice yoga, I found it calming and soothing.
Exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. Many people give up or desist just a couple weeks after they start, because they force themselves to practice activites which they do not enjoy. I believe you should try as many different physical activities as you can, from jogging to boxing, from swimming to weight-lifting. This way, you will find an activity which is amusing and entertaining to you, and you will actually enjoy exercising.
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique β such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a
particular object, thought, or activity β to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and
emotionally calm and stable state.
I know this is toughtest and hardest to start, but I promise you that once you get started (start trying to meditate
for 5 minutes), you will not regret it.
