The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família,
otherwise
known as Sagrada Família,
is a church under
construction in Barcelona, Spain.
The cornerstone of the building was laid 140 years ago
and
construction continues to this day,
for this reason, I call it
'endless'.
After the church was begun, a second architect was brought in to finish
the design.
His name was Antoni Gaudí.
The local lore is that Josep Boccabella,
a Catholic philanthropist, dreamt that
a red-haired knight with
blue eyes
would save the Sagrada Família project
he had just
started.
When Bocabella met Gaudí,
he recognized him as the knight in his
dream.
He convinced Gaudí to become the architect for the new
church.
