Ugali is the main staple food in any Kenyan home.


Ugali and nyama

Ugali is often served with sukuma wiki and meat as pictured above around the ugali, a type of stew made with vegetables similar to kale.
To eat, each person will take turns digging into the ugali using their hands before rolling it into a ball using their fingers. A small indentation is placed using the thumb to scoop the vegetable or meat for a mouthful of stewy goodness.
