Working out is any activity that tests or improves one's fitness. It can include jumping, running, punching, or swimming. The Department of Health and Human Services recommends that healthy adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week. Research has shown that it's important to get all four types of exercise: endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility. Doing one kind also can improve your ability to do the others.
