Welcome to pet parenthood! Your life is about to get muddier, fluffier and happier! Your golden retriever will need you to exercise them, feed them, and care for them in many different ways. In return, you will have a lifetime of smiles and the purest friendship that you will ever know.
Your golden retriever will need regular vaccinations and veterinary care whenever they are sick or injured. Before your dog comes home, register with a reputable Veterinarian. They will be able to signpost you to lots of other helpful services such as insurance and microchip tagging.
Golden retrievers are extremely intelligent and food orientated. This makes them ideal candidates for positive reinforcement training or clicker training. Make training into a game and your dog will love you for it.
Golden retriever puppies are adorable but like any baby, they will need
lots of attention. If you are able to make this commitment then make sure
your puppy is Kennel Club approved. You should be able to meet the whole
litter with the mother in a safe and comfortable environment. Puppy farms
are to be avoided at all costs as they are motivated by profit alone and
frequently fail to meet animal welfare standards.
If your heart is set on an older dog then a rescue or a retired service
dog could be an ideal match. Why not check out this link to see if your
new best friend is waiting for you there?
