Your Skin is an Organ too
A lot of people tend to neglect their skin. They forget that it is an oragn too. Although located on the outside, it is just as important as our internal organs. Some people spend excessive time trying hard to take care of their skins, but stay frustrated as they do not see results. Skincare is very tricky. Each skincare routine, or recipe as I like to call it, is different. It depends on so many factors, including genetics, your food intake, and your geographic location. Let me take you on a journey to discover what works best for your skin! I will be sharing tips and tricks I have learnt over the years with you. You will learn how to create your very own skincare routine just for YOU. On that note, please remember, like anything it takes time and consistency. Love your skin through the journey!
Step 1 : Determine your skintype. This is the very first thing you need to do. Knowing your skintype tells you off the bat the type of products you will need and the products to run far away from. Generally speaking there are 4 skintypes. Normal, dry, combination and oily. Most people fall under one of the four. Find out your skintype at the click of this button ->
Step 2 : What oils work for you. Whether you have oily, dry or
combination skin oils are a most for moisturization. Jojoba oil is one of my favs, partly because it is on the lighter side and partly because it mimics the natural oils you produce. If you are on the oily side, this gem is for you! Another oil that I absolutuely love is coconut oil. It is antibacterial and swear to this most nights. I am not big on oils during the day, but at night oils are my best friends. Different oils work for different people so make sure to do your research. I get most of my oils from The Soap Dispensary. They have quality products, so make sure to check them out! Moisturized ✅
Step 3: People tend to mix-up hydration and moisturization. Hear this -
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! We all need to moisturize and hydrate.
Moisturization is used to counter dryness, so moisturizing products
usually contian moisturizing oils. Hydration on the other hand
tackles water loss. As your body needs water to survive so does your
skin. Now to determine how much moisturizing and how much hydrating you
need will again depend on your skintype. See why step 1 is so important?
If you skipped that step, please go back! Oily skins do well with more hydration while dry skins do well with more moisturization. Finding your balance is key! Hydrated ✅
Step 4: Cleanse! This involves cleaning out your pores. While a lot of people use cleansers I tend to go with a bentonite clay mask (once a week) and the 60 second rule. I read this article/ watched a youtube
video years ago about some 60 seonds rule. I would put a link here but it has
been so long I am unable to find it. A quick summary of it: wash your face for 60 seconds! That's it. You are giving your
skin some time to absorb the good in your soap and cleaning your pores
thoroughly. It is super easy and only takes a minute-literally! I don't
subscribe to doing this daily especially if you have dry skin. I treat this step as a "deep cleanse" and only do it 3-4 times
a week. Cleansed ✅
Here are some DO'S and DON'TS that I live by.
