There are four differnt speices of puffins: Alantic puffins, Horned
puffins, Tufted puffins and Rhinoceros Auket puffins.
Puffins are nicknamed the "clowns of the sea" due to thier unique
coloring.
Puffins have a lifespan of around 20 year and main predator are great
black-backed gulls.
Puffins spend most of thier lives out at sea as they live off small fish
and eels.
Puffins beaks change colors with the different seasons. During the
spring their beaks brighten to help attract a potential mate, while in
winter they tak on a grey color.
Puffins once mated, tend to continue to mate with the same partner. Some
have been mated for 20 years.
A female puffin lays one egg each spring. once hatched a puffling is
born and will return to the same burrow the following spring
In 2015 Puffins were added to the "vulnerable speices" list due to
overfishing and pollution. Without change puffins could move on to the
"endagered speices" list within the next 20 years.
