Pizza is a dish of Italian origin consisting of a
usually round, flat base of wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes,
cheese, and often various other ingredients, which is then baked at a
high temperature, traditionally in a wood-fired oven. Based on
etymology, the word pizza comes from the dialectal
pinza from the Latin pinsere, which means to pound or
stamp. Other etymologists suggest it is related to the
Lombardic word bizzo or pizzo, which means
mouthful. π€π»
