evolved as a fusion of various dance styles, predominantly jazz, tap,
breakaway, and Charleston, and gained popularity during the swing era
of the late 1930s and early 1940s. Characterised as a jazz dance and
part of the swing dance family, it is known for its lively and
energetic nature, incorporating elements such as fast spins,
cartwheels, jumps, and a mix of partnered and improvised steps.
