Meet Edina Gabriella Ngalasa

A Zambian Young Zambian Coder

Gabriella Ngalasa is a promising young woman with a passion for computer programming. She was born in a refugee camp in Zambia where she spent most of her childhood. Despite the difficult circumstances of growing up in a refugee camp, Edina worked hard and remained determined to get an education. Her perseverance paid off when she was awarded a full scholarship to attend United States International University-Africa, a top university in Nairobi, Kenya. At the university, Edina pursued her passion for technology by studying computer science and software engineering. Outside of her academics, Edina enjoys mentoring younger refugee students in programming. She volunteers her time teaching them basics of coding and web development, hoping to inspire them to pursue careers in technology. Her students describe her as patient, kind, and dedicated. Now in her third year at the university, Edina continues to excel in her studies. She aspires to become a software developer and build technological solutions that can uplift disadvantaged communities like the one she grew up in. Edina's story is one of resilience, drive, and using one's skills to serve others.
