Cookie Decorating

I love cookie decorating!

I first started cookie decorating when I was in high school. My friends and I decided to go to the store, we grabbed some Easter cookie cutters, and took on the adventure of cookie decorating. It was not easy at first and took lots of practice to get good. Now that I have been decorating for over 15 years, I consider myself to be a cookie artist. I like to think of the cookie as my canvas. I even have my own business now, Laura's Cookies.

The hardest part about cookie decorating is obtaning the right consistency of royal icing. I like to have two icing consistencies. The first consistency is called your piping consistency. This is like a toothpaste. The second consistencty is called flood. For this, I like to lift my spatula up and there is a nice steady stream. The icing in the bowl should smooth out in about 12 seconds.
