Chess
is a game for two players. Chess is known as a war or an army against whites and blacks The main goal of chess is
to checkmate the king of the opponent. One player will choose white and the other will choose black pieces. The chess
board has a white color square on the bottom right-hand side of each player and has a total of 64 squares which consists
of two types of squares, which are light squares and dark squares. Chess boards have letters and numbers on the board
which are used to describe the parts of the chessboard.

Pawns occupy the second row (or rank). The King is placed on the remaining square,
the Rooks in the corners, the Knights adjacent to them, the Bishops, and lastly the Queen, who always matches her own color (black queen on black, white queen
on white).

I am Veronica Gouws, from South Africa and I am a Chess Player. My journey in playing chess commenced when I was in grade 4 during my primary school. The National Chess Tournament I took part in was the year 2008 held Cape Town, during my high school years.
