Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur produced in Southern
Italy, especially on the Amalfi Coast and Sicily. There are different
stories on limoncello's origin, some claim it goes back to the Roman
Empire when aristocrats and senators would enjoy this exquisite
beverage, other versions says limoncello was born in the beginning of
the twentieth century in a small guesthouse on the Blue Island where
Mrs. Maria Antonia Farace tended the garden of oranges and
lemons. After the World War II, her grandson opened a bar, whose
specialty was the lemon liqueur.
