Yoga
Introduction to Yoga
Yoga is an ancient and complex practice, rooted in
Indian philosophy. It began as a spiritual practice but has become
popular as a way of promoting physical and mental well-being. Although
classical yoga also includes other elements, modern yoga classes
typically emphasize physical postures (asanas), breathing
techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana).
There are many different yoga styles, ranging from gentle practices
(yin, restorative, hatha) to more physically demanding
ones (vinyasa, bikram). For many people yoga is a mind
and body practice that can build strength and flexibility. It may also
help manage pain and reduce stress.
