Woman Running

Alvaston is a suburb of a city called Derby in the East Midlands, a small city with a population of around 250,000 in the United Kingdom. Alvaston boasts a number of excellent routes for jogging, walking and cycling, largely thanks to a network of paths adapted from the remnants of the old canal. The 'canal path' runs through Derby and connects with sights of interest along the way, joggers are spoilt for choice, with a variety of attractive traffic free routes. For shorter distances Alvaston Park is a great start, from here you one can join the river path. Going away from the city you will reach Elvaston Castle and its attractive grounds, towards the city you can follow the river to Darley Park, great for long distance and hill training. Finally, taking the 'canal path' away from city to the south you will reach Swarkestone Lock, here you will find routes along the canal and country lanes leading back to Alvaston and the 'canal path'.
