Sydney is the capital city of the state of New South Wales (NSW) and the most populous city in Australia and Oceania. Located on Australia's east coast, Sydney is made up of 658 suburbs that are spread across 33 local government areas. As of June 2019, Sydney is made up of an estimated 5,312,163 "Sydneysiders", or residents. Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world, Sydney frequently ranks in the top ten most liveable cities.
