For those who enjoy indie, Phoebe Bridgers is a household name. Phoebe takes the first steps towards a promising music career with her EP Killer, released in 2014, whose songs still had a different style from what the singer currently produces. Such a style only begins to take shape from "Stranger In The Alps" (2017), a critically acclaimed album, with songs such as "Smoke Signals" and "Demi Moore". Throughout this period, Bridgers also collaborated with several artists, including Conor Oberst, Fione Apple, Julien Baker (on the 2016 tour), and even Taylor Swift. Increasingly popular, Phoebe was nominated for four Grammys (and lost them all, but I bet she had fun with it) with her most famous album: Punisher, released in 2020. With tracks like "Garden Song" and "I Know the End" (with over a million views on Youtube), Phoebe Bridgers has established herself as one of the most famous faces of contemporary indie.
Julien Baker,a Memphis kid, started her career long before Boygenius in bands like "The Star Killers" and "Forrister", wich songs you still can find in Youtube. But what made her popular was, in fact, her solo work. Julien Baker debuted with "Sprained Ankle" (2015), an album basically made out of Julien's voice and guitar. Her songs, seemingly simple, quickly became popular with critics because of Baker's impressive skills at songwriting, making her songs worthy of appreciation. In the other albums, "Turn Out The Lights" (2017) and "Little Oblivions" (2021), Julien starts to explore more robust songs, with other instruments and sounds. The new instruments and members, however, do not omit the singer's original style, which continues to explore sensitive themes through beautiful compositions.
Lucy Dacus released her debut album, titled "No Burden" in 2015, which received critical acclaim, drawing attention to her unique ability to create introspective and emotionally rich music. Dacus continued to gain recognition with her second album, "Historian" (2018), cementing her position as an up-and-coming indie artist. Her musical style combines elements of indie rock and folk, standing out for her heartfelt lyrics and a more than captivating voice.
