A picturesque village between the ocean and the mountains with great weather all year round!
Agaete is one of the most picturesque towns in Gran Canaria, Spain.
Its unique location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Tamadaba National Park makes it a great destination at any time of the year.
Autumn and winter, when it is cold in Europe, it is a perfect destination for hiking.
In spring and summer locals and visitors enjoy its ocean, beaches, and natural pools.
If its your first time in Agaete, these are my recomendations to enjoy it to the fullest.
Enjoy the beaches
There are two pebble beaches in Puerto de Las Nieves where the locals tend to sunbathe.
Puerto de Las Nieves is connected to the well-known natural pools of Agaete, named Las Salinas.
Years ago it was a salt mine, hence its name. Nowadays it is a perfect place for the bath formed by three pools of volcanic
rock with sea water. Don`t miss the sunset at the Guayedra beach!
It is one of the few remaining unspoiled beaches on the island.
You can get there taking a hike from the village or driving along the picturesque GC-200 road.
Another beach with stunning sunsets is the Kaleta beach. Why not checking them all out!
Take a walk in the Agaete Valley
With its very special microclimate the valley is a unique place.
Explore the Valley and its natural wonders, farms, plantations.
Smell the fruit trees and watch the endemic species such as the Blue Chaffinch.
Eat fresh fish in the port
The Puerto de Las Nieves is the fishermen district of Agaete, where you can find its beautiful beaches, blue and white houses with marine decoration, the Ermita de
Las Nieves, a wide offer of restaurants with outside terraces where you can enjoy freshly-caught fish.
The Puerto is one of the parts of Gran Canaria that has maintained 100% of its essence.
Visit the coffee plantations
Gran Canaria’s Biosphere Reserve, the Agaete Valley produces 5,000 kilos of coffee each year in an area of fertile
volcanic soil. Collected manually since 1800, Agaete coffee has a long history of quality,
and today it is a benchmark coffee worldwide. It arrived in the valley at the beginning of the 19th century,
and since then it has been been the only place in Spain and one of the few in Europe
where it is cultivated in a sustained, traditional, and artisanal fashion.
Take a guided tour at a local plantation and learn how the locals mastered the process of making coffee.
Go hiking in the Tamabada National Park.
Experience the wonders of nature as you hike through the Tamadaba Natural park.
Begin your hike in the village of Agaete and enjoy a stunning view of The Feneroque Cliff,
the seventh highest cliff in Europe.
Or, start in San Pedro and go to Ere de Berbique, or even further towards the Tamadaba National Park.
