The name says it all. A combination of cheese and cake. What could be
better?
Depending on the type of cheesecake you prefer (baked or refrigerated), it
is made of soft cheese (typically cream cheese, cottage cheese or
ricotta), eggs and sugar. Some cheesecakes are made with a crust and some
are made crustless. The crust is typically made of crushed biscuits and
butter. Toppings can vary from different fruit such as berries, passion
fruit, lemon and other flavors such as Oreo, Biscoff, or even Salted
Caramel. The sky is the limit with this versatile dish. There are even
recipes for savoury cheesecake.🤯
According to Wikipedia, it originated from Greece, but back in those days
it was called something else, "Placenta cake".
That definitely does
not sound appetizing. Thank goodness for modern cheesecake!
